Asian dishes get sesame flavor from three sources: sesame seeds, sesame paste (of which tahini is a close relative), and sesame oil. Sesame seeds are the least flavorful of the three, and sesame oil is the strongest.
Here’s a recipe for a sesame chicken stir fry, that also works great with tofu. It uses both sesame seeds and sesame oil to deliver great flavors. The recipe includes green beans and mushrooms, which match the flavors well, but you can leave them out and make this 100% protein if you’d like (or try other vegetables!).
